A Million Little Stitches

I'm back to working on this piece I started this past summer...now I'm adding hand work and every time I look at this I feel like I'm not doing it right. It looks disheveled and messy to me. Is there a right way and a wrong way? Should I be using a hoop? Should I aim for the same length? When I do the little circles I'm using two strands of floss...if I use more will that make it smoother? Am I really just obsessing?

Your stitching is wonderful. And eventually the rhythm of it's randomness will make visual sense.

I believe that more strands will make your circles even rougher. But they are brilliant. I am stealing your circles-in-the-chicken-scratch idea for a future project.

Yes... I think this is wonderful. I love the randomness. Just keep going. Are you stitching over or around something to make those circles? How clever!

Kathy, all of those questions are design choices, and as a designer you get to make the choices. I think it looks beautiful.
Thanks for the heads up about Deborah's birthday. I went over and said Happy Birthday to her.

You are obsessing. It looks great. I just finished a piece, which you can see on my blog, with hand stitching all over it. I did the same thing--kept thinking "this doesn't look good, this isn't working" until I finished then it all looked fine!
