One of my former co-workers is having a baby. I have a store bought gift but I wanted to add a little personal touch. I like personal touches. I know not everyone appreciates it, but I don't care anymore; I don't do it for them, I do it for me. I started out finding this free down loadable pattern on line and printing it out. It comes in two sizes, 0 to 3 months and 3 to 6 months.
I thought I would make it out of felt, but since I didn't have any and I found this piece of felted wool roving I had done a bit ago, I decided to use it.
I decided to put a few spots of color on the white BEFORE I stitched them together. Then I added some pink floss stitches around them. (It's a girl, BTW)
Yes, my expertise does NOT lean toward even stitches, but when you take a close-up picture anything can look off kilter. Excuses, excuses. I decided to add some pretty ribbon ties to the top edge to make them extra snuggly. I'm happy with the finished product though, and those little baby feet will be very warm this winter.
Many artists are taking the 'process pledge' and I love the reasoning behind it, but I have a hard time committing to something...wonder what that says about me. I prefer to do it my way. Sometimes I will, sometimes I will forget to take photos, sometimes my thinking is just too convoluted, but I'm going to give it all a try. Like this little practice piece.

I just love those little booties! I too love to give a handmade gift. It's usually to friends, so they do seem to appreciate it. Like you though it is as much about me as the person receiving it.
