Hello everyone, I'm back with a new fabric collage to share with all my quilting friends. I've always been so impressed with what some fabric artists do with light and shadows, dark and light areas that I thought I might try it for myself. I'm finding it challenging and just the right mind stimulating project to be working on as fall approaches. I'm also reaffirming some things I already knew about myself. I don't follow the rules. I don't color in the lines, literally. I can't for the life of me cut a piece of fabric to FIT in those shapes (and apparently I change the shapes too). So, I fly by the seat of my pants and somehow I think I'm making it work. And if only I did it the 'right way' life would be so much less stressful. I SHOULD have fused all the fabrics first. But, she says, I wasn't sure which fabrics I'd use for sure, and I didn't want to have tons of fused stuff I could have used for something else if they weren't fused. So, I used
Susan Carlson's technique of using a dab of glue to hold everything down, and it's maybe not as neat as it could be, but it works.

It's going to be an amazing piece! I always do things the hard way too as I can never plan ahead. I'd just change my mind anyway.
I tried this in a weekend workshop with Susan Carlson. I was working on a four part Andy Warhol like fabric collage of my daughter. Daughter didn't care for the spotted face etc. So I never finished them. Yours look much nicer.
But when I stood five feet away from mine--it looked just like my daughter. Should go finish them.

Wow! You are extremely talented, you make me want to try and make some of my family. I cannot wait to see it finished! And I think I need to show Shawn this one too! Keep going, you are doing an amazing job :D
