Endings

Today is my last day of work at the same job I've had for the past 21 years. I started when our oldest was getting close to college age, and didn't mean to stick with it so long after the fact. But I ended up being one of the lucky ones that loved what they did. And the women I worked with. (nine women in one office and for the most part, all got along!) Which is probably the saddest part of leaving. I know there are big things afoot in the office today. There'll be balloons and cake for the patients, and well wishes and despite the fact that I'm very happy to be retiring, it will be sad. I spent yesterday making these little pins for each of my co-workers, taking into consideration their distinct personalities. It was a little hard to decide on words for each because with some of them I had to remember they MAY wear these in public so I had to be nice!

I had ordered some legs from Artgirlz, but unfortunately they didn't arrive in time. My fault for waiting till the last minute, so I had to improvise with beads and charms. They look good so I'm happy. And no one is expecting a surprise from me, so bonus!

We leave for Boston after work...for a planned meeting and for the real part of my retirement party. I know we're going to a very nice restaurant, and I heard something about going out to a bar/club/Dick's Last Resort???!!! after. One last fling on the boss!

Congratulations! Love your little pins-what a nice surprise they will be for your coworkers. 21 years at the same job is amazing to me. Enjoy your retirement!
